Jazz is the only form of music that embraces all other forms of music – and that is one of the reasons I embraced it. I believe that jazz has been around long before the Americans coined a name for improvised music around a hundred years ago. Indian classical music, a form of improvised music, has been around for over 2,000 years and I'm sure other forms of improvised folk music in other parts of the world have been around even longer. Origins aside, jazz is continuously evolving and open to all other sounds of music. What happens next is the most exciting part of jazz, with due respect to what happened in the past.
I moved to Goa in the 2008 and set up an organisation called Jazz Goa to spread and sustain this great form of music. Jazz artistes from all over the world visit Goa regularly for its beautiful and inspiring environment. I have been performing and recording these artistes at my simple home studio in Sangolda. I also host a jazz hour on radio and produce a television show broadcasting live performances happening all over Goa. My work can be reviewed at www.jazzgoa.com.
