The Indian Premier League has seen several stunning catches being taken in its seven seasons so far. Staffed by some of the best cricketers from around the world, the IPL has a wealth of talent in all departments: batting, bowling and fielding. Here's a look back of the five best catches taken in previous editions of the tournament.

1. Chris Lynn vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore (2014)

This catch was so high on the stunning quotient that it was labelled by some as the best catch ever in the history of the game. While that may be a bit of an exaggeration, no one can deny that it was quite spectacular. Chris Lynn, the Australian cricketer playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, actually slipped an lost his footing while shaping up to take the catch, but managed to regain composure and take a stunner. What made the catch even more special for his team was that it won them a tightly-contested match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

2. Kieron Pollard vs. Kings XI Punjab (2013)

This catch is so good that the official version has been taken off YouTube and is only available on the tournament's official website. However, that hasn't stopped someone from posting this video grab. Trinidadian Kieron Pollard is popularly known as the Superman of cricket, simply because there isn't a lot that he cannot pull off on the field. Whether he is batting or fielding, the Mumbai Indians recruit is always a major threat. This catch was taken in the 2013 edition at the Wankhede Stadium.

3. David Hussey vs. Delhi Daredevils (2010)

The 2010 season of the IPL had some great catches. However, this one was unique. The Hussey brothers are well known for their prowess in the field. Here, the elder of the two, David, displays his fine presence of mind and superb agility to take one of the most clever catches you will ever see.

4. Ricky Ponting vs. Delhi Daredevils (2013)

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, at 40, showed the youngsters how it's done by pulling off this blinder of a catch at the Wankhede Stadium. Take a bow, sir.

5. Kieron Pollard vs. Chennai Super Kings (2013)

Kieron Pollard could have a top five catches list all to himself if needed. This one, dismissing Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was crucial to Mumbai Indians' chances in the game. The entire MA Chidambaram Stadium thought that Dhoni had connected with the delivery well enough for it to sail over the fence for six. Enter Pollard.
