The US began building a case against Russia on Friday for the downing of a Malaysian airliner, and the US president said Russian supplies of sophisticated weapons to Ukrainian separatists were “not an accident.” He said the plane “was shot down” on Thursday by a surface-to-air missile fired from separatist territory. All 298 aboard were killed.

Supreme Court acquits all 12 accused in 1993 Surat blasts
In a setback for the Gujarat government, a bench led by Justice TS Thakur set aside the judgement of the TADA court convicting the accused in 2008 and sentencing them to varying jail terms up to 20 years. The bombs had left one girl dead and more than 40 injured.
