There may have been some genuine discounts on some products but Flipkart, customers have alleged, has played the oldest trick in the book. In the days leading up to the event, the company jacked up the prices. Customers have also been complaining that that several products on sale are showing as sold out. Even if they manage to get their desired items into their cart, they say they have faced transaction errors when trying to pay.

After all these problems on the website, Flipkart had to come out and apologise.
You maybe facing issues shopping on our site right now - sorry! We're fixing this as we speak and will be up and running in 15 mins! — Flipkart (@Flipkart) October 6, 2014
Among the items offered by Flipkart was Chetan Bhagat’s new novel, Half Girlfriend. It was selling for a whopping 29% off, and was at Rs 125. However, Flipkart didn't realise that Amazon is selling the book for only Rs 99. In fact, both Snapdeal and Amazon seem to have gotten the upper hand on Flipkart. Amazon actually bought the www.bigbillionday.com domain and had it link to Amazon.in.
Kya re Flipkart? Your MacBookAir 13" is Rs.56,490 and Snapdeal has it at Rs.49,999! http://t.co/P627azUmGX vs. http://t.co/lj91iSnqOF — Karthik Srinivasan (@beastoftraal) October 6, 2014

The e-commerce war between Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon is only getting more intense. Snapdeal ran a campaign on Monday that read, “For others it’s a big day. For us, today is no different.” Amazon continued with its Mission to Mars sale. Just to round it off, here is what other Twitter users have been saying in general about Monday's big online sales.
