"The Public-Private Partnership model for power generation projects, as suggested by the Centre, would not work in this region for the simple reason that private stakeholders shy away," he said. Thanhwala cited a study by the North East Council to say that the cost of power generation in the region, which is 10-15% higher among the seven states due to the prevalence of inhospitable terrain, has driven away private investors.
