Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram, marks the death of Imam Hussein ibn Ali, Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, in the battle of Karbala. The Shia community observes the day by taking out taziya processions that are a re-enactment of the Karbala battle. In India, the processions include miniature mausoleums.
