Haryana: Post-mortem report says women suffered blunt-force trauma injuries
The controversial preacher Rampal was booked for murder on Thursday, a day after five women and an infant were reported to have died at his ashram in Barwala, near Hisar. According to the post-mortem reports, four of the women had suffered blunt-force trauma injuries. Two had suffered broken ribs, while the others showed injuries on their lower limbs. On Tuesday, police found the bodies of the women and the baby after storming a 12-acre compound controlled by armed supporters of the self-styled godman. On Thursday, the High Court cancelled Rampal's bail granted in a 2006 murder case and sent him to judicial custody till November 28.

West Bengal: CBI to question three senior politicians in Saradha scam probe
The Central Bureau of Investigation is all set to question Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Srinjoy Bose, Congress leader Somen Mitra and West Bengal transport minister Madan Mitra in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam on Friday. The first two have agreed to show up. Madan Mitra, however, checked into a government hospital on Wednesday after spending four days at a private nursing home. By summoning Mitra, the CBI has for the very first time called in a serving minister for questioning in the multi-crore scam, which, last year, duped lakhs of investors using Ponzi schemes.

Jammu and Kashmir: Will not support any party that goes against Article 370, says Omar
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that his party, the National Conference, cannot support those who are against Article 370 of the Constitution, which grants special autonomous status to the state. Omar also sought the Bharatiya Janata Party's view on Article 370, after he had accused the Hindu nationalist party of doublespeak on the issue. "There are multiple statements depending on where they are standing," Omar said. "In Jammu, one hears a different point of view and in Kashmir one hears another." The state goes to the polls on November 25.

Tamil Nadu: Five fisherman freed by Sri Lanka arrive in Chennai
The five fishermen from Tamil Nadu, who were sentenced to death in Sri Lanka for alleged drug trafficking but set free after a presidential pardon, arrived in Chennai on Friday. They are likely to meet Chief Minister O Panneerselvam in Chennai on Saturday before returning to their home town of Rameshwaram. The fishermen were apprehended in November 2011 and sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court for allegedly smuggling drugs into Sri Lanka.

Tripura: One Congress worker dies after clashes during strike
A day-long statewide strike by the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee against Chief Minister Manik Sarkar turned violent on Thursday. It had been organised to protest Sarkar's alleged involvement in a multi-crore scam. During the clashes, one person died due to a cardiac arrest after being attached by Communist Party of India (Marxist) cadres, according to Congress president DC Hrangkhwal. Eight others sustained injuries.
