What with the spread of Ben-10 and Chhota Bheem, the ol' granddaddy of animation appears to have been lost somewhat in the muddle. But every once in a while, the Walt Disney Company can find a way to remind people that Mickey Mouse is still around.

Take the new Mickey Mouse TV series. Directed by the Emmy award-winning Paul Rudish, this series mimics the old shorts that made the character famous in the first place, with the novelty of putting him into contemporary settings and international locations. The Paris short, Croissant de Triomphe, actually picked up a couple of Emmys earlier this year.

Now Rudish has brought Mickey to Mumbai. The short has all the staples of Indian orientalism – crazy traffic, Bollywood-esque music, cows in the middle of the road (and sunbathing) but it still manages to actually be quite fun. It also features cameos from some old-school Disney characters, including King Louie from the Jungle Book. And, in a move that might make the new government quite happy with Disney, it's filmed entirely in Hindi.
