The week’s top releases include Cinderella and Hunterr.

Cinderella
Kenneth Branagh adapts the latest Disney version of the fairy tale about the poor little princess who gets her prince.

The visual extravaganza, whose widely touted highlight is Sandy Powell’s costumes, stars Lily James in the lead role and Richard Madden as her prince. Cate Blanchett plays as the evil stepmother who tries to deny Cinderella her inheritance.

Hunterrr
Harshvardhan Kulkarni’s debut feature is about a Casanova who wants to get married.

Will Gulshan Devaiah’s Mandar Ponkshe rein in his wandering eye and finally settle for blissful matrimony with Radhika Apte’s Trupti? What is to be done with his colourful past and his other relationships? The coming-of-age comedy is about a specimen of Indian manhood that is all too familiar.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Checking in this week, one of the finest collections of vintage British talent.

John Madden’s sequel to his 2012 comedy, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, features most of the original cast as well as some additions. Richard Gere joins the ensemble that includes Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Celia Imrie and Penelope Wilton. Dev Patel also returns as the eager-to-please hotel owner, as does Tena Desae as his lady love. The new kerfuffle in the lives of the golden oldies: the best exotic is going to get a branch.

Dozakh In Seach of Heaven
A Muslim cleric sets on the worst journey any father could undertake: to find his missing son.

Zaigham Imam’s low-key and low-budget drama, an adaptation of his novel of the same name, stars Lalit Mohan Tiwari in the lead role. The message-oriented film about inter-faith tolerance is set in Varanasi.
