Pierre Morel, the director who made Liam Neeson an action star with the first Taken movie, directs Penn as a former mercenary whose past deeds catch up with him. The cast includes Idris Elba, Ray Winstone and Javier Bardem as the current husband of Penn’s ex. Penn takes off his shirt in case anybody doubted that award-winning actor who has half a century behind him can carry off the part.
Run All Night
Meanwhile, Liam Neeson is still on the run, but in a different movie.
Jaume Collet-Serra, whose short but diverse CV includes House of Wax and Orphan, directs this saga about a former criminal trying to protect his estranged son from his former boss Shawn’s gunmen. Turns out Jimmy’s son accidentally killed Shawn’s son…oops. Ed Harris plays Shawn, and Joel Kinnaman, Common, Nick Nolte and Vincent D’Onofrio complete the cast.
Yahaan Sabki Lagi Hai
A most cheerful thought in a week in which India reaches for World Cup glory.
This critique of the inequalities and injustices that plagues even the English-speaking youth in cities has been directed by Satavisha Bose and Cyrus Khambatta. It stars Varun Thakur, Eden Shyodhi, Heerok Das and Yoshika Verma.
