Ashish Avikunthak’s Bengali feature film follows two actors from Calcutta as they travel to the Kumbh Mela in search of Kalki, the tenth avatar of Vishnu.

DANCE Apar-Kaya + Rhythms of Seven at NCPA Experimental Theatre
Odissi dancer Shashwati Garai Ghosh will present Apar-Kaya, a piece of choreography based on the mythological tale of Vedavati, who Ravana had tried to molest. She gets back at him in her next life as Sita. In Rhythms of Seven, kathak dancer Seema Mehta and sitar player Purbayan Chatterjee will stage a performance based on the rhythmic patterns of the number seven. MUSIC District Fifty EP Launch at 5 The Restaurant
District Fifty, the collective of electronica musicians named after the pin code of Bandra, will launch their debut EP Control Freq Vol.1 with a gig comprising sets by crew members Kris Correya, Kini Rao, Lobocop and United Machines, the latter two of whom are known to their folks as Kenneth Lobo and Himanshu Pandey respectively. MUSIC Praveen Achary at Blue Frog

Free FILM Towards a Pink Spring and Breaking Free at Films Division
The theme of this edition of screenings at the Films Division’s FD Zone is LGBT issues. Mario de la Torre’s Towards a Pink Spring, an 18-minute documentary in French (with English subtitles), looks at the Arab LGBT community whose members wait for the day when they can be open about their sexuality. Sridhar Rangayan’s Breaking Free, a documentary in English, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada shot over seven years, shows the discrimination meted out to the gay community in India and the activism against Section 377.
