THEATRE The Mathematics of Being Human at the American Centre

In this play, co-written by Michele Osherow and Manil Suri and directed by Kuljeet Singh, battle lines are drawn when an English and a mathematics professor are forced to teach an interdisciplinary course. FILM Brothers in Trouble at India International Centre

Screened as part of a retrospective of National Award-winning actor Pavan Malhotra’s work, the 1995 British drama Brothers in Trouble chronicles daily life in a household of illegal Pakistani immigrants in the UK. Entry is free; seating is on a first come, first served basis.

DANCE MUSIC Naad-Nartan Dance and Music Festival at India Habitat Centre

The second day of this two-day festival organised by NGO Naad Nartan in memory of noted kathak dancer Tirath Ram Sharma will feature a kathak performance by Swati Sinha of the Jaipur gharana and a Hindustani vocal recital by Iqbal Ahmad Khan of the Delhi gharana. FILM Four White Shirts at India Habitat Centre

Latvian director Rolands Kalniņš’s 1967 film is a study of censorship and youth rebellion in Latvia in the 1960s. The movie was banned and shelved and only saw the light of day in 1986. This screening is part of the Latvian Film Festival organised by the Film Club of the India Habitat Centre in collaboration with the Embassy of Latvia. See the complete schedule here. Director Aigars Grauba’s 2007 film is a love story set around November 11, 1919, a crucial date in the battle for Latvian independence. In their struggle against a German invasion, a rag-tag army of inexperienced youth manage to keep a German general and his troops from entering the Latvian capital of Riga.
