Last June, when American businessman and former reality TV star Donald Trump announced that he would run for US president in 2016, very few people took him seriously.
Today, those who took the Republican presidential hopeful’s candidacy as a joke, are seriously worried at the possibility of Trump moving into the Oval office. In the eight months since he announced he would run for US President, the controversial businessman – with his slogan “make America great again" – has steadily garnered support, and is now the consistent Republican front-runner.
Trump has, so far, hogged the limelight with his outrageous racist, xenophobic and anti-immigrant statements. His beliefs, on several occasions, have been likened to that of the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
But it’s not as if the media hasn’t had a go at him either. British comedian John Oliver recently hosted a wildly popular takedown of Trump, equating him to a black mole.
"So at this point Donald Trump is America's back mole,” said the Last Week Tonight host. “It may have seemed harmless a year ago but now that its gotten frighteningly bigger it is no longer wise to ignore it."
Trump's physical appearance – his blonde comb-over, half-closed eyes and alarmingly orange face – has given cartoonists enough fodder to eviscerate him through their art.
Here are a few cartoons from around the world:
Those who don't have a flair for illustration haven't let that stop them from taking on Trump. Memes on the presidential candidate are commonplace on the Internet.
