FILM European Union Film Festival at the NCPA Little Theatre
A total of 24 films will be screened at this year’s edition of the annual ten-day festival, which will take place at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Alliance Francaise and British Council. The festival will commence this weekend at the NCPA. Among the movies that will be shown are Elisabeth Scharang’s 2015 Austrian film Jack, about real-life serial killer Jack Unterweger (Friday at 6.30 pm and Sunday at 4.30 pm) and Janis Nords’ 2013 Latvian feature Mother, I Love You (Mamu, Es Tevi Mīlu) in which a 12-year-old boy embarks on a life of crime that he tries to hide from his mother (Saturday at 2.30 pm). FILM The Immortals at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum
A screening of Shivendra Singh Dungarpur’s 2015 documentary, which tells the story of the greats of Indian cinema through objects and places associated with them such as director Dadasaheb Phalke’s car, singer KL Saigal’s harmonium and the homes of filmmakers Satyajit Ray and Baburao Painter. The documentary, in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and English, will be shown with English subtitles. There is no entry fee for the event, which is part of the venue’s Movies at the Museum series, and will include a discussion with Dungarpur.

FILM Winter Night’s Dream at Prithvi House
German filmmaker Andres Veiel’s 1992 documentary Winter Night’s Dream, about a group of senior theatre actresses, will be screened by the Max Mueller Bhavan/Goethe Institut. The documentary, which is in German with English subtitles, centres on Inka Köhler-Rechnitz, who was not allowed to pursue a stage career by her husband in the 1920s. She acted on stage only 60 years later. There is no entry fee.
