EXHIBITION ‘Kumarajiva: Philosopher and Seer’ at India International Centre
Curated by Buddhist scholar Shashibala, this exhibition has texts, manuscripts and pen and ink drawings related to fourth-century Indo-Chinese Buddhist monk Kumarajiva, known for his translations of Buddhist texts from Sanskrit to Chinese.

FILM Love is Strange at the American Centre

FOOD WALKS Iftaar Walks at Jama Masjid
Tour company Delhi By Foot will take participants through the traditions surrounding the iftaar, the breaking of the fast Muslims observe during the month of Ramzan, on two food walks this weekend during which they will share traditional dishes such as lazeez kebab, biryani, nihari and double ka meetha. Zaaika-e-Iftaar Purani Dilli Ka on Friday, which will include a visit to the Jama Masjid during Friday prayers, is priced at Rs 1,000 per person (including food). Lazzat-e-Iftaar on Saturday is priced at Rs 1,250 per person (including food). Children between the ages of nine and 12 will be charged 50 per cent of the ticket fee. FILM European Union Film Festival
The three week-long festival of films from 24 EU countries, organised by the delegation of the European Union to India, will come to a end with three screenings this weekend: director Łukasz Palkowski’s 2014 Polish biopic Bogowie (Gods), based on the life of cardiac surgeon Zbigniew Religa (Friday at 6.30 pm at the India International Centre); Virág Zomborácz’ 2014 Hungarian comedy Utóélet (Afterlife), in which a neurotic man begins to see his dead father’s ghost (Saturday at 6.30 pm at the Slovak Embassy); and Kyriakos Tofarides’ 2013 Greek Cypriot film Block 12, about a Greek retiree who tries to secure an oil deposit in Cyrus found by English spy satellites (Sunday at 7 pm at India Habitat Centre).
