Immersed in play is when little girls’ spirit shines — one needs to only observe them during their role-playing games to see how. They fashion a stethoscope out of thin air, mimic their teachers perfectly, act far beyond their age, build a whole adventure inside a fort of pillows…The creativity of our girls knows no bounds and grows to include everything they learn about and experience.

Take popular role-play games such as teacher-teacher, ghar-ghar, doctor-doctor etc. that reflect the role models girls see around them. Indeed, having someone to look up to gives wings to their imagination and fires aspirations.

Barbie India recognised this. For its campaign, You Can Be Anything, it reached out to mothers from across the country and asked them what their girls dreamt of becoming when they grew up. The response was overwhelming. Over 1000 mothers wrote back citing a variety of professions — medicine, comedy, dance, gymnastics, acting, cooking, space exploration and more!

Barbie India then selected three lucky girls — six-year-old Benaifer, nine-year-old Shreya and 10-year-old Prina — and paired them with real-life role models for a taste of their dream. Take a look at what happened when the little dreamers spent a day with Urooj Ashfaq (writer, comedian and entertainer), Meghana Reddy (Commonwealth gymnast) and Anjali Pathak (international chef and food personality) respectively.
