Indian archer Atanu Das beat Cuba’s Adrian Perez in five sets to progress to the round of 16 in the men's individual archery event at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday. The Indian won the first two sets 28-26 and 29-26, but a dip in form saw him lose the next two 26-27 and 27-28. In the final set, however, the Bengal lad upped his game and scored a match-winning 29 with two 10s and a nine.
Earlier, Das beat Nepal’s Jitbahadur Muktan in straight sets to progress to the round of 32. Das won the first set 29-26, shooting two 10s. In the second, he outclassed his opponent 29-24 by hitting 10, 9 and 10 again. With the round of 32 in sight, Das shot a perfect third set by hitting three 10s. He won the match 6-0 in the end.
