A festival celebrated in the northern parts of India, Karva Chauth, has pushed the second One-Day International match between India and New Zealand in Delhi by a day. The Board of Control for Cricket in India approved the request made by the Delhi and District Cricket Association, reported PTI. The match will now take place on the October 20, instead of the 19th.
The DDCA reportedly anticipated a steep drop in ticket sales during the festival, which is a day-long fast observed by married women. The DDCA vice president, CK Khanna, was quoted by PTI as saying, "We are thankful to BCCI for accepting our request of shifting the date by a day. I have received a letter of acknowledgement for the same from [the] BCCI office."
Kane Williamson's New Zealand will play three Test matches and five ODIs during the India tour, which lasts for more than a month, commencing on September 22 and ending on October 29. The first Test will be played in Kanpur.
