Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter continued to face an investigation by the world football governing body's ethics committee over allegedly accepting gifts and bribes during his tenure. Ex-secretary general Jerome Valcke and finance director Markus Kattner also face formal proceedings, reported the BBC. The ethics committee estimated the "bonuses" to be as high as $80 million.

Blatter, who was the head of FIFA from 1998 to 2015, was handed a six-year ban over unauthorised payments running to $2 million made to former vice-president Michel Platini, who was also slapped with a suspension.

Valcke, who has been given a 10-year ban, had allegedly joined hands with Blatter and Kattner to "enrich themselves", according to the report. Valcke's ban was related to violations pertaining to television deals and ticket sales during the 2014 World Cup. Kattner, who was fired in May, was found guilty of "breaches" running to millions of dollars.
