Sourabh Verma capped off a brilliant comeback after being plagued with a spate of injuries in the recent past by walking away with the men's singles title, beating Malaysia's Liew Daren in Taipei on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Verma came from behind to win the first two games 12-10 12-10. Liew retired from the third game with a shoulder injury. Verma had spent nearly a year out of the game due to injuries and ended up as runner-up in Belgium and Poland International challenges in the past.

Verma was trailing Liew 7-10 in the first game but staged a remarkable comeback, knocking off five straight points to win the first game. The story was similar in the second half as Liew continued to struggle for answers as the Indian made a habit of winning a points in a stretch. Verma was trailing 1-5 before making it 6-10. Here, the Madhya Pradesh shuttler took six points in a row to to seal the game and the match.
