After the heroics of Deepak Hooda, who was unbeaten on 293 and powered Baroda to 529, Punjab captain Yuvraj Singh and opener Manan Vohra staged an unbeaten partnership of 314 runs to power their side to 452/2 at the end of day’s play in Delhi. Vohra hit a double hundred (201 not out) while Singh was at his best, scoring 179, which included 23 fluent boundaries.
The duo went after the loose deliveries and never dropped their guard even once as they chased down the first innings total set by Baroda. They still trail by 77 runs and will look to take full advantage of the conditions on Sunday as well.
Himachal find their groove
After being bowled out for 36 in their first innings, Himachal Pradesh took a 142-run lead over Hyderabad on day two as Paras Dogra (57) and Robin Bist (50 not out) powered them to 232/6 in their second innings. Hyderabad resumed their innings from 99/7 before being bowled out for 126, with Rishi Dhawan taking a career-best innings haul of 7/50.
Delhi remain on course
Powered by captain Gautam Gambhir’s sublime knock of 147, Delhi declared their innings at 495 after Milind Kumar smashed 106 not out, with Manan Sharma playing a crucial knock of 81 against Odisha. Ishant Sharma then struck twice with the ball for Delhi to send the Odisha openers Sandeep Pattnaik and Ranjit Singh back to the pavilion. Manan Sharma chipped in with a wicket to leave Odisha struggling at 109/4 in their second innings, still trailing by 149 runs.
Kerala set target of 328
Kerala’s Rohan Prem stitched a crucial century to help side set Chhattisgarh a target of 328 in Jamshedpur. Prem, who had scored 62 in the first innings, remained unbeaten on 123 as Kerala declared their second innings at 307/2. In their first innings, Kerala had scored 207 after which Chhattisgarh were bowled out for 187. Karaparambil Monish took 4/34, while Iqbal Abdulla grabbed 3/26. Chhattisgarh ended the day at 15/0, needing another 313 runs for a win.
