FC Pune City held off Atletico de Kolkata to record a 2-1 victory at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune on Sunday. Kolkata would have gone to the top of the table had they won, but it was Pune who walked away the happier team, moving up to seventh spot in the standings.
For Pune's head coach Antonio Habas, the victory was sweet as he was facing his former team. Pune drew first blood with Eduardo Ferreira who scored with a splendid header to make it 1-0, four minutes before half-time. Anibal Zudro made it 2-0 in the 56th minute, scoring from the spot after Pritam Kotal was booked for handball.
Kolkata fought back and were soon awarded a penalty as Helder Postiga was brought down by Mohammed Sissoko. Iain Hume stepped up for Kolkata and his initial effort was saved by Edel Bete but Hume slammed it home on the rebound to make it 2-1 in the 69th minute. However, it was a little too late for Kolkata as Pune won the game with ease in the end.
