Indian golfer SSP Chawrasia won his second Asian Tour title of the season by winning the Resorts World Manila Masters in Manila on Sunday.

It was Chawrasia’s fourth Asian Tour title, but his first outside India. He also has three wins on the European Tour. “I am very happy. This is my first win outside of India. It means a great deal for me. I am very excited. Everyone has been telling me I have won a lot of times in India and it’s about time to win outside of India. I am glad I did it this week. I know every shot is crucial when you are in a play-off. I just tried to calm myself down out there,” Chawrasia told the Asian Tour website after the win.

Chawrasia, who won the Hero Indian Open in March, carded a final round of six-under 66 to take his total to 19-under 269 in four days. He was in in the lead, along with Malaysia’s Nicolas Fung (63) and American Sam Chen (65). The trio fought it out in a playoff, in which Fung was the first to be eliminated after missing a birdie. Chawrasia held his nerves till the end to beat Chen and bag the title.

India’s Shubhankar Sharma, Chiragh Kumar and Jyoti Randhawa, finished tied-4th, one stroke behind the top three.
