Twenty-two goals were scored in four matches on Sunday in another round of World Cup qualifiers across the globe. Belgium outclassed Estonia 8-1 as Portugal smashed Latvia 4-1. Netherlands also scored three goals against Luxembourg with Hungary demolishing Andorra 4-0. All in all, it was not exactly a night for a goalkeeper to enjoy.

Belgium blast Estonia away

Eight goals, which also included an own goal, were scored by Belgium as they beat Estonia 8-1. Dries Mertens and Romelu Lukaku scored a brace for Belgium. Thomas Meunier, Eden Hazard and Yannick Carrasco scored one goal apiece as Estonia’s Ragnar Klavan also scored an own goal. Henri Anier scored Estonia’s single goal.

Ronaldo hits and misses

Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals, but also missed a penalty as Portugal outclassed Latvia 4-1. Ronaldo scored from the spot to make it 1-0, but missed another penalty during the second half. Arturs Zjuzins equalised for Latvia as William Carvalho scored via header to make it 2-1. Ronaldo and Bruno Alves netted the remaining two goals for the win.

Netherlands smash three

Memphis Depay scored a brace as he came off the bench to power Netherlands’ 3-1 over Luxembourg. Depay netted his first with a header and then with a free-kick to secure the win. Arjen Robben had given the Dutch the lead early on before Luxembourg’s Maxime Chanot drew level with a penalty.

Hungary on target

Hungary beat Andorra 4-0 as Zoltan Gera, Adam Lang, Adam Gyurcso and Adam Szalai were on target against a hapless Andorra defence. Hungary absorbed the early pressure as they struck after 30 minutes, which also saw them break the shackles and play an offensive game. Andorra were stunned by the sudden attack and succumbed under pressure.
