Mumbai remained on course to retain their title as they outplayed Uttar Pradesh in the second innings at Mysore. Spin was a key element here as Aditya Dhumal and Vishal Dabolkar shared nine wickets between them to skittle UP out for 173 after setting them a target of 295.
Railways, who started the day with only 23 runs to get, reached the target without much ado, registering a seven-wicket win. The prolific Vinay Kumar was too much to handle for the hapless Rajasthan batsmen as Karnataka cruised to a 393-run win at Vizianagaram. Andhra got the biggest win of the day, hammering Tripura by an innings and 38 runs.
Mumbai continue their victorious march
Mumbai spun a web around Uttar Pradesh and what looked like a tight game at the end of day two ended comfortably in the favour of the Ranji Trophy giants, who secured a comfortable 121-run win. On a wicket that wasn’t batsman-friendly by any means, Suryakumar Yadav’s knocks in both innings proved to be the difference between the two sides.
In the second innings, Aditya Dhumal and Vishal Dabholkar shared nine wickets between them to bundle out Uttar Pradesh, who could only muster 173 in reply to a 295-run target.
Vinay Kumar too hot to handle once again
Karnataka skipper Vinay Kumar recently completed 400 wickets in First-Class cricket and he was in no mood to stop as he, along with the consistent Sreenath Aravind ran through the Rajasthan batting order to dismiss them for just 131. Vinay Kumar bagged another five-wicket haul and Aravind scalped three as the former champions won by 393 runs.
