The big news: Chelsea surge to the top
Chelsea beat Middlesbrough 1-0 to reach the top of the Premier League table on Sunday. Diego Costa netted his 10th goal this season as Chelsea registered their six straight win at the Riverside Stadium.
Chelsea have looked in sublime touch and are a point clear of Liverpool and Manchester City, who are on 27 points. Chelsea now play against Tottenham and Manchester City. If they beat them, they will cement their place at the top of the pile.
Chelsea were the better side throughout the encounter with Pedro, Eden Hazard and Costa trying to get past a stern Middlesbrough defence. Both teams had their chances on goal, but failed to capitalise. In the end, Costa’s strike proved to be the major difference between both the sides.
