Britain’s Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic to win his first ATP World Tour Finals title in London on Sunday. Murray beat the five-time champion 6-3, 6-4 to also end the year 2016 as the World No. 1.

The year-end top ranking was on the line with the winner to take it all. Murray, who was the obvious crowd favourite, had a nervous start with a double fault. But, the World No. 1 got his act together and demolished Djokovic, who failed to get the better of Murray at London’s O2 Arena. Murray extended his career-best winning run to 24 matches. The victory also ended Djokovic’s four-year run of success at the tournament and the Serb’s bid to equal Roger Federer’s record of six titles.

“I’m very happy to win and to be world number one is very special,” said the Scot. “It’s very special playing against Novak in a match like this.”
