The Indian women’s team brought up their fourth consecutive win in the T20 Asia Cup without losing a game as they beat Sri Lanka by a handsome margin of 59 runs at Bangkok on Thursday.
After electing to bat first, India posted a solid total of 121/4, led by a fluent half-century by veteran Mithali Raj (62 from 59). There were handy contributions from Smriti Mandhana and Veda Krishnamurthy, who chipped in with 21 runs each.
Sri Lanka were in dire straits by the half-way stage, losing half their side as Ekta Bisht (3/8) and Preeti Bose (3/14) inflicted significant damage. The first two Lankan wickets were scalped by Jhulan Goswami and Anuja Patil. Sri Lanka finished at 69/9 in their quota of overs with only Prasadani Weerakkody and Dilani Manodara getting into double figures.
India play their final round-robin match against Nepal on December 2 and have already booked their place in Sunday’s final.
