Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo bagged his fourth Ballon d’Or award on Tuesday. In a stellar 2016 season, Ronaldo won last season’s Champions League with Real Madrid and Euro 2016 with Portugal. Ronaldo is now one trophy behind Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who received the honour in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Ronaldo won the title in 2008, 2013 and 2014. No one other than Ronaldo or Messi has won the award since 2007 when Brazil’s Kaka took home the trophy.
Ronaldo deserves the coveted trophy because he played a crucial role to help Real beat Atletico Madrid to become European champions for the 11th time earlier this year.
