The Board of Control for Cricket in India are set to reject Mumbai Police’s demand for Rs 60 lakh as security cover for two practice games to be played at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai, the Indian Express reported on Monday.

The move is likely to affect a match that will see high-profile players like MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan take the field. It is likely that the two games, scheduled to be played on January 10 and 12, might be played in front of empty stands.

Dhoni has been named captain of the India A side for the first game, in what is likely to be his last game as skipper of an Indian outfit.

The Mumbai Police had raised their fee after from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 60 lakh after figuring out the presence of popular names in the Indian outfit.

The development follows a day after Hyderabad Cricket Association reportedly cited a cash crunch as a hurdle for it to host the one-off Test against Bangladesh. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has also written to the BCCI, expressing its inability to host India’s Under-19 games in February.

The ousted Board members are said to be engaging in a “non-cooperation” move following the SC verdict, the report added.
