Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez was dropped from the starting XI for Saturday’s clash against Liverpool because he was involved in a row with his teammates during training, according to reports in the British media. Sanchez was confronted by teammates in the changing room and one of them had to be held back as tempers flared, a BBC report said.
Sanchez was left out of the starting line-up at Anfield but came on in the second half. He set up his team’s only goal in what turned out to be a 3-1 defeat. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said it was a tactical decision to omit Sanchez.
Sanchez is Arsenal’s top scorer this season and has been involved in 26 goals in as many league games this season, scoring 17 and assisting nine. The defeat was the Gunners’ third in four league games and saw them drop out of the top four.
