Australian pacer Pat Cummins will be Mitchell Starc’s replacement in the ongoing tour of India, reported Cricket Australia on Saturday. Cummins last played a Test way back in 2011 when he made his debut at the age of 18 against South Africa, where he was named Player of the Match.
Since then, the 23-year-old has been on the sidelines owing to injuries. Cummins completed his first Sheffield Shield match in six years on Friday and will, in all likelihood, feature in the third Test match against India in Ranchi which begins on Thursday. Cummins grabbed hauls of 4/47 and 4/57 for New South Waales in the first-class match against South Australia.
Starc was ruled out of the India tour after he fractured his right foot. Starc could bag only five wickets during the two Test in Pune and Bangalore. Australia lost the Bangalore Test by 75 runs as India tied the four-match series 1-1. Mitchell Marsh was also ruled out of the tour owing to a shoulder injury with Marcus Stoinis replacing him.
