Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei demolished China’s Shi Yuqi 21-12, 21-10 in the final of the All England Open on Sunday to lift the Superseries title for the fourth time in his illustrious career.

Lee was utterly dominant from the onset and made Shi scramble at the corners, smashing a series of winners. From 13-10, the 34-year-old reeled off five straight points, and closed down the first game subsequently.

Shi suffered an injury late in the second game, but the Malaysian already had a 18-10 lead by then. After play resumed, Lee wasted no time in sealing the game and with it, the tie with a ferocious smash.

With the win, Lee joined countrymen Wong Peng Soon and Eddy Choong, who also have four All England wins. Before the tournament began, the top seed had announced that the tournament would be his last All England tour but after the match he did say that he would be back next year.
