Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi announced on Twitter on Friday that he will no longer be part of the Pakistan Super League team Peshawar Zalmi.

“Won the trophy with one team, time for another. I’m announcing my end of service as president and player of Peshawar Zalmi team due to personal reasons,” tweeted Afridi, hence making clear that he was ready to play for another franchise.

The franchise’s owner, Javed Afridi, however, told ESPNCricinfo that he was clueless about the development and will talk to the former Pakistani captain regarding the issue.

“Like many, I am also surprised after reading his tweets,” said the owner. “I have no clue and am not aware about the reason he wrote this. But definitely I would like to speak to him before making any further comment.”

Peshawar Zalmi won the PSL title this season, defeating Quetta Gladiators in the final held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in March. Afridi, who was the captain of the franchise in the first edition, gave up the captaincy role to West Indies captain Darren Sammy. Afridi scored 177 runs in 10 matches in PSL 2 with an average of 25.28 and could only manage to take two wickets. In February, Afridi had announced his retirement from international cricket but will feature in T20 leagues.
