Arsenal striker Alexis Sánchez has suggested that he wants to finish his contract at the London club, reported The Guardian on Wednesday.
In a promotional event in Chile, the 28-year-old said, “I’m happy in London and I want to finish my contract. That’s what I want. I like to stay in one place, one city, where the team fights for titles.”
Sánchez has scored 22 goals for Arsenal this season, 18 in the Premier League, but there has been increasing speculation that he is frustrated at the club’s performance and is looking to move out in the summer. He will have a year left on his contract in the summer and the report suggested that his comments could indicate an attempt to force Arsenal to sell him rather than let his contract wind down after which he could leave on a free transfer.
Contract negotiations with Arsenal have currently been put on hold by the striker. Arsenal are currently sixth on the Premier League table and have lost sixth of their last nine matches.
