PV Sindhu has climbed two places to World No 3 in the latest Badminton World Federation’s world rankings announced on Thursday. The 21-year-old Indian shuttler who had achieved the World No 2 ranking following her India Open triumph, had dropped to World No 5 after being knocked out in the first round of the Malaysia Open. Her quarter-final finish at the Singapore Open Superseries has helped her move up on the list.
Saina Nehwal who is on a comeback trail following her recovery knee injury also jumped up a spot to World No 8.
Meanwhile, B Sai Praneeth, who won the Singapore Open Superseries recently, jumped eight places to achieve his career-best ranking of World No 22. Kidambi Srikanth also moved up eight places to the 21st rank.
Ajay Jayaram is India’s highest ranked player in the men’s category, moving up one place to 13th in the rankings.
Chinese Teipei’s Tai Tzu Ying tops the rankings among women, while Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is No 1 among men.
