The Indian Premier League is set to reintroduce former champions Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals into the Twenty20 league next season, according to a report quoting Board of Control for Cricket in India CEO Rahul Johri in Dainik Jagran on Saturday.

“The ban on Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be lifted next year. Therefore, both teams will return in the next edition of the IPL,” said Johri in Bareilly, as per the report. “The BCCI is in no mood to increase the number of teams in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will replace Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions in the next edition of the IPL.”

Johri added, “To make the IPL bigger, fan parks are being organised in the smaller cities. Every IPL match has around 20 lakh viewers online.”

The Chennai and Rajasthan franchises were suspended for two years in 2015 due to the spot-fixing crisis. In place, Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant were introduced to the competition.
