On Sunday night, Aizawl FC created history by winning their maiden I-League champions. Aizawl, who were formed in 1984, became the first club from the North East to win the title.
The fairytale win soon snowballed into an internet sensation with social media celebrating their victory uploading pictures and videos of their sensational achievement.
However, a certain picture that has caught everyone’s eye was of a photograph showing fans cleaning up the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Shillong after the match.
“Thank you Aizwal football fans for cleaning the trash after the match yesterday ... speaks volumes of your attitude. We, the rest, should learn from them,” a fan wrote on Facebook, with the picture from the stadium. The picture is winning hearts and witnessed over 800 shares already.
