Fourth seeded Riya Bhatia was upset in the final of the $15,000 ITF women’s circuit tournament in Curtea de Arges, Romania by Georgia Andreea Craciun on Sunday. Bhatia lost in straight sets to the eighth seeded Romanian 6-1, 6-1 in an hour’s duration.
Bhatia won only two of her seven service games throughout the match and saved only one of the six break points she faced on her serve. In comparison, her rival was distinctly better winning all seven of her service games and saving all 10 break points she faced. For the match, Bhatia managed to win only 33 points to Craciun’s 57.
The Indian put in 54% of her first serves, winning 42% points off them. She had a better second serve percentage of 78%, but managed to win only 37% points off her second serves. Meanwhile, Craciun put 60% of her first serves in, winning 63% points off her first serves. The Romanian also put in 90% of her second serves, winning a margin of 68% points.
Craciun finished the match with two aces and double faults to Bhatia serving just the one ace and four double faults on her serve.
