Sudha Singh continued India’s domination on the track at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneshwar, winning the gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase event.
Singh started the favourite for the event in the absence of Olympic champion Ruth Jebet and lived up to her billing.

The women’s 4x100 relay team, led by local stars Srabani Nanda and Dutee Chand, bagged the bronze medal.

Four-time National Champion Singh, appearing in the Steeplechase competition after an extended break (on account of swine flu) post the Rio Olympics, finished with a timing 9:59.47, comfortably ahead of the pack.

This was India’s seventh gold medal at the event, with two on day one and four on day two.
