On Sunday, the India team put up a gallant effort against England in the Women’s World Cup at Lord’s. Despite being the underdogs, the Indian team restricted the hosts to 229. However, the pressure of the occasion got to the team as they collapsed from 191/3 to 219 all out, thus allowing England to win their fourth World Cup title.
However, Twitter exploded with encouraging messages for the team with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading from the front. From making the country proud to keeping their chin up, Twitterati ensured that Mithali & Co will be down but certainly not out.
Our women cricketers gave their best today. They have shown remarkable tenacity & skill through the World Cup. Proud of the team! @BCCIWomen
