India opener Shikhar Dhawan has been declared fit and will be available for selection for the first Test against South Africa in Cape Town from Friday.
Dhawan’s availability for the opening Test was in doubt after an ankle niggle had laid him low on the day of the team’s departure for South Africa.
According to a statement issued by the BCCI in consultation with the Board’s medical team, the 32-year-old had recovered in time.
The BCCI on Wednesday also informed that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is suffering a viral illness for the past two days and will be taken to a hospital for treatment.
They expect 29-year-old to fully recover within the next two days. A decision on his availability for selection for the opening Test will be taken on Friday morning.
