If you have been following the Big Bash League in Australia, the name Jofra Archer will be familiar for you. The 22-year-old fast bowler, born in Barbados but making his name in English Country cricket for Sussex, has attracted plenty of attention for his bowling in the ongoing T20 tournament in Australia.

Playing for Hobart Hurricanes, Archer’s pace, his deadly yorkers and general attitude on the pitch has led to him being called “a cult hero” by the league’s social media handles and on Wednesday, he lived up to that moniker.

It was not just the ridiculousness of the return catch he took – it was a stunning reflex attempt to dismiss Ben Cutting. The batsman smoked a full ball back at the bowler and would have expected it to race to the boundary. Except Archer had other ideas.
