Olympic and world championship silver medallist PV Sindhu suffered an injury scare while training on Tuesday ahead of the Commonwealth Games next month but there is no immediate threat to her participation, reported PTI.
The 22-year-old sprained her right ankle while practising at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and underwent an MRI scan. Fortunately for the Indian, there was no tear or break found, the report said.
“Now she will rest for a day and day after tomorrow she will start running again,” Sindhu’s father PV Ramana told PTI. “She will go to the ground tomorrow and do some strengthening experience. There is enough time as CWG starts with the team event [on April 5]. So nothing to worry [about].”
Sindhu, the world No 3, is one of the favourites to bag a gold at the Commonwealth Games. She had won a bronze in the last edition in Glasgow.
