Rohan Bopanna and partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin eased into the third round of the French Open with a convincing win against the all-French combination of Benjamin Bonzi and Gregoire Jacq on Thursday.
The thirteenth seeds needed just 48 minutes to win their second round match 6-1, 6-2.
The Indo-French pair started off in a hurry breaking their opponents’ serve twice, and taking a 4-0 lead. The first set would last just 19 minutes. The story wasn’t much different in the second set either.
Pranjala Yadlapalli’s strong run at the ITF $25K tournament in Thailand came to an end in the quarter-finals as the 19-year-old went down to Alexandra Bozovic 3-6, 6-7(2) to bring and end to India’s campaign in Hua Hin.
In the doubles, Karman Kaur Thandi and partner Jia-Qi Kang, seeded fourth, were obliterated in the doubles semi-final by the top seeds Victoria Rodriguez and Erin Routliffe who notched a 6-0, 6-0 win.
At the ITF Zimbabwe F1 Futures, second seeds Anirudh Chandrasekar and Vignesh Peranamallur kept India’s hopes alive with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Darko Bojanovic and Siphosothando Montsi in the semi-final. They will face top seeds Benjamin Lock and Courtney John Lock.
At the Uzbekistan F3 Futures, second seeds Arjun Kadhe and Alex Lawson went down in the doubles semi-finals with a 7-6(1), 6-3 loss Konstantin Kravchuk and Roman Safiullin.
At the Spain F13 Futures, Adil Kalyanpur made the most of sneaking into the main draw as a lucky loser by reaching the quarter-finals. He beat local Spanish Jaume Pla Malfeito 7-5, 6-4 to reach the second round of the singles, where he got a walkover win over Simon Carr of Ireland.
