Indian doubles shuttler N Sikki Reddy’s participation in the badminton world championships later this month is in doubt after she twisted her ankle ahead of the Singapore Open.
The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist lost in the first round in women’s doubles (with Ashwini Ponnappa) and in the round of 16 in mixed doubles (with Pranaav Jerry Chopra) in Singapore.
After her mixed doubles defeat on Thursday against Hong Kong’s Chang Tak Ching and NG Wing Yung, Reddy tweeted that she twisted her ankle the day she left for Singapore last week. The world championships begin in Nanjing, China, on July 31.
Following the Commonwealth Games in April, Reddy had skipped the Uber Cup after suffering from typhoid. She directly took part in the Malaysia Open in June, where she and Pranaav lost in the first round. In the Indonesian Open the following week again, the pair was defeated in the opening round.
