With emotions and adrenaline running high, there have been bowlers who have brought the game into disrepute with their celebrations. Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir on Thursday went a step further in a Caribbean Premier League game.
Tanvir, representing Guyana Warriors, was hit for a six by Australian Ben Cutting as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were cruising towards a competitive total. The next delivery saw Cutting bowled around his legs. We’ve seen bowlers taunting, letting out a few expletives or in the case of Sreesanth, even break into a jig. But Tanvir went for a double middle-finger salute.
Tanvir’s Guyana cruised to a six-wicket win as Shimron Hetmyer’s heroics outshone veteran Chris Gayle’s belligerent 86. The left-armer was instrumental in restricting St. Kitts to 146/5, giving away just 24 runs and picking up a wicket. His act might earn him a lengthy sanction and once again open discussions on player conduct.
