Cheteshwar Pujara suffered the seventh run-out of his career after a mix-up with skipper Virat Kohli during a rain-marred second Test at Lord’s on Friday.
Coming into bat after openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul departed early. Coming into bat at his regular spot at No 3, Pujara seemed to be slowly coming to terms with the tricky conditions with the rain a constant companion.

After one such halt in play, Pujara’s short stint came to an abrupt end in the ninth over. He dabbed the ball towards covers and looked towards his partner for a quick single. Kohli by then was already on his bike and seemed to be heading towards the striker’s end with a purpose. Pujara heeded to his captain’s call and pressed hard on the accelerator. Halfway down the pitch, Kohli decided to abort the run and turned his back to Pujara.

The Saurashtra lad, who had his head down, could do nothing but halt in his track. Before he could wonder whether running back was an option, Ollie Pope had already dislodged the bails at the striker’s end. India had gifted England the third wicket.

That's now the 7th time Pujara has been run-out in Tests, joint fourth in the all-time list for India. He's been run-out 3 times in his last 6 innings. What is going wrong for him?#ENGvIND day two live updates: https://t.co/DjiKcQ96MH
