CISF constable opens fire in Kolkata museum, one killed
An officer of assistant commandant rank sustained injuries.
A head constable of the Central Industrial Security Force opened fire at the Indian Museum in Kolkata on Saturday evening, killing one of his colleagues and injuring one more, PTI reported.
The constable, identified as Akshay Kumar Mishra, was arrested by the Kolkata Police.
“Approximately 15 rounds of firing took place,” City Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal said, according to Times of India. But it is too early to say why the assailant had opened fire. We will question him for more details.”

The CISF official killed was of the rank of assistant sub-inspector, while an officer of assistant commandant rank sustained injuries.
The incident took place around 6.30 pm in the CISF barrack at the museum located in Esplanade area of Central Kolkata. CISF has been deployed at the Indian Museum since December 2019.
In June, a police constable had fired several rounds outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata before shooting himself dead. A woman on a two-wheeler died after being hit in the firing.
