A chartered flight from Moscow to Goa which made an emergency landing in Gujarat following a false bomb threat arrived at its destination on Tuesday afternoon, PTI reported.

The flight landed at the Dabolim Airport in Goa at 2.39 pm, an unidentified official from the airport told the news agency.

The flight was diverted to Gujarat’s Jamnagar city, where it made an emergency landing on Monday after the bomb threat was issued.

“A thorough search was conducted by the NSG [National Security Guards], police and BDS [Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad] teams,” Pardhi told reporters on Tuesday. “Hand baggage and check-in baggage of passengers were also checked. The flight has been cleared [for takeoff] and after taking care of certain formalities, it will depart for Goa. It was a hoax call.”

The flight, which belonged to Russian charter airline Azur Air, had 244 persons on board, including 236 passengers. The Jamnagar district collector said that the passengers were tourists.

An unidentified official from the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad told The Indian Express that the authority got inputs from central agencies that Azur Air had received an email claiming there was a bomb on board the flight.

“The NSG teams from Ahmedabad and Delhi joined the local police in carrying out the search operation of the plane, including the luggage of passengers, and the process was completed on Tuesday morning,” Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu told PTI.

Earlier, Security had been stepped up at Goa’s Dabolim airport as a precautionary measure, Inspector general of Police (Rajkot and Jamnagar Range), Ashok Kumar Yadav had said, reported the Hindustan Times.
